How are you?? I hope you’re so well !
Don’t forget I’m cheering you on always, so you’re absolutely not alone <3
Sometimes when maybe we’ve got a lot going on around us, when we’re a bit stress or overwhelmed - and it’s all feeling a bit cloudy. It can be really hard to remember that there actually are things that do help, or make us feel better or happier even !
So I’m compiling a big long list of the little happy things. And I could not encourage you more to use this list, add to this list, make your own list.
Because when things are feeling all cloudy and we don’t think there’s anything that will cheer us up, we get to look at this list and take a deep breath. And remember, oh yeah, i forgot about that, we’re gonna be okay.
So what are we learning today? MAKE. YOUR. OWN. HAPPY. THINGS. LIST.
And I give you full permission to steal this list and make it your own.
Number 1 rule of the list, there’s no such thing as something being “too silly” or “too small” to join this list. If it makes you happy, makes you smile, makes you excited, then it gets to be there. No matter how big or small.
Let’s get into it !
Little things that make me happy:
Sunrises AND sunsets
Freshly baked chocolate chip cookies
Fresh juices
Rainbows after rain !!!
Happy girl walks
Seeing pretty flowers on happy girl walks
Waking up early
Getting into the bible before going on my phone
Baskets (yep, literally just baskets. I love baskets, I think I have at least 5 in my room)
Anything yellow !
Anything pink !
Ticking off your to do list for the day
The feeling after taking an everything shower
When you press shuffle on your playlist and your favourite song comes on
Buying a new journal (BEST FEELING EVER)
Buying new books !!! (almost the best feeling ever, but journals win for me !)
Finishing a book (as not the biggest reader in the world, it makes me feel so accomplished !)
The feeling of a fresh start (reminder: you can have that fresh start feeling literally any day)
Pinterest (oh my goodness my favourite thing ever)
Eating my breakfast outside in the morning
Butterflies landing on you (iykyk)
Doing a good cartwheel (I’m not the best cartwheeler so it’s very exciting when it happens)
Colouring !
Going on colour walks (Where you pick a colour to focus on while you’re on you walk, and then you find things in that colour)
Waking up to a crystal clean room
Going to sleep with fresh clean sheets !!!!!
When you’re hungry and you eat your favourite food/meal and it just HITS
Wearing an outfit that you just feel so good in
Having a little solo dance party in your room
Going to the beach
When the sun comes out after a lot of cloudy rainy days
Also when it rains after not raining in forever and you get to have a really cozy day in
Watching gilmore girls
Baking brownies yummmm (brownies sound so good right now stop)
Someone surprising you (with a nice surprise of course)
Sweet messages
Daisies
The sunshine coming through your window
Someone messaging you saying “this made me think of you” (Sobs that’s so sweet)
Picnics !!!
Spending time with my family (I love them so much)
Reaching a goal you’ve been working so hard on (and you better celebrate about that girl!!!!)
Getting outside in the morning, and the air is kind of crisp so it wakes you up perfectly
Journaling after a really good day
Also journaling after a not so good day and just being able to let go of all your stresses so you feel nice and light again
When the stars in the sky are super bright
Smiles from strangers awhh
Bring complimented awhhhhh
Swimming on a really hot day and feeling soo refreshed
Chocolate bars yum
When there’s a cool breeze on a hot day
Getting a new hairstyle or haircut and it just feels so bouncy and light and fresh
When something you want to buy is on special
When you read a random bible verse and it’s exaccttlllyy what you needed to hear (God’s so good like that)
Logging off for the day and knowing the rest of your day is all yours
Ladybugs ! (They’re so cute)
Sticky notes (I actually love them so much, I put them everywhere)
The feeling after trying something new and stretching yourself out of your comfort zone a little bit, when you were so scared to. but knowing you did it and feeling so proud of yourself !
Having a day off where there is no stress or heaviness at all
Birthdays !!!
Getting ready for a day that you’re really looking forward to living
Waking up feeling so refreshed and energised
Waving to the sun to say goodnight and see you tomorrow !
Seeing pictures in the shapes of the clouds
Buying yourself pretty flowers
Chocolate chip muffins
Finally doing something you’ve been putting off
Writing in your planner (Oh I love my planner so much)
Feeling organised
Having pretty painted nails
Dancing out the bad vibes
Bike rides (bonus points if your bike has a basket)
Finally making it through your day and knowing you get to relax and read or watch gilmore girls
Bible readings
Drinking really really cold water
Making a new moodboard and feeling soo inspired
Having a productive day
Also feeling so refreshed after having an intentional rest day
Pens ! (I love having so many pens, I'm a big stationery girl can you tell?)
Making someone else smile
Getting a random gift just because ! (Including when you buy a gift for yourself just because :))
Strawberries and chocolate YUMMM
How was that? Good?
I hope so !
And you know what, I guarantee there is sooo many more little things that make me happy that I haven’t even thought about yet !
I know sometimes life is just super hard and exhausting. And I’m so sorry if it is for you right now, I really wish I could take it away.
But I promise (pinky promise), that there are still good things. Even if they’re little tiny good things. They’re still there. Don’t forget to look for them or do them.
You deserve the little things that make you feel better.
I hope today you remember that. And make the time to read a couple pages of your book, buy yourself some flowers, bake chocolate chip muffins, paint your nails, watch gilmore girls, or whatever it is that you want to do that will make you feel better. Even 1% better.
Life will get better for you soon, I believe that with all my heart. I really really do.
For now, use this list or make your own list and remind yourself each day about the little things that can bring you a bit of joy in your day.
I hope this helped inspire you and remind you that there are still good things, even if they seem silly or little.
